Find Your Voice Flute Series

A Four Month in Person Journey of Breath, Sound & Sacred Expression

A Four Month Transformative Journey

The flute is more than an instrument.

It is a sacred relationship.

The Flute Fall Series is a four-month in person experiential journey designed to help you develop an intentional and therapeutic relationship with the flute.

The therapeutic relationship with the native flute transformed my life... and now I am honored to be able to share with you how to cultivate this relationship in a good way..

The Flute Fall Series is a four-month experiential journey designed to help you develop an intentional and therapeutic relationship with the flute, whether you have never picked up an instrument before or already have a flute practice you would like to deepen.

This is the practice of learning to build a relationship that is intentional, sacred and devotional. Through this sacred relationship, you will begin to experience your voice in a way that you've never experienced before.

Over four gatherings, we will move from foundational flute techniques into improvisation, song structure, advanced techniques, and eventually the opportunity to visit a local master flute craftsman and experience firsthand the artistry and intention behind the instruments we play.

We will close our journey by coming back together to share what we've learned and experience the beauty of playing in community.

More Than Just an Instrument...

...A Sacred Relationship

THE FOUR-MONTH JOURNEY

Class One: ROOTS

November 8th, at 2pm

Our first gathering is about slowing down and beginning at the roots. We'll explore the foundations of playing while beginning to develop your own relationship with the flute.

You'll learn:

  • How to hold and care for your flute

  • Breath control and foundational playing techniques

  • Finding clear, grounded notes

  • Basic finger placement

  • Listening rather than performing

  • Using the breath as part of your practice

  • Beginning improvisation

  • Exploring the flute as an extension of your own voice

  • We'll also explore something that will guide our entire series:What happens when we begin to listen and feel how to be with our instrument? No musical experience is necessary.

Class Two: VOICE

Song Structure, Expression & Advanced Techniques

 December 13th, 2026 at 2pm

Once we've established our foundation, we'll begin expanding into other techniques. We'll explore simple structures that allow you to move from spontaneous notes into something that begins to feel like a song, without needing to read music or understand complicated music theory.

We'll practice:

  • Creating simple melodic patterns

  • Building a basic song structure

  • Repetition and variation

  • Rhythm and pacing

  • Advanced breath techniques

  • Ornamentation and expressive techniques

  • Allowing emotion to move through sound

  • Playing alongside others

  • Learning a shared song together

This gathering is an invitation to become a little braver with your sound and voice. We will strengthen the safety of our container to feel safe enough to begin playing and having fun with your instrument.

Class Three: CRAFT

Meet the Flute Maker

January 10th, 2027 at 2pm

For our third gathering, we'll step outside of our usual classroom and visit Leo's flute workshop for a special field experience. Rather than only learning how to play the flute, we'll have the opportunity to deepen our appreciation for the instrument itself.

We'll explore:

  • How flutes are created

  • Different woods and materials

  • Different keys and their unique qualities

  • How tuning influences the sound of an instrument

  • What makes one flute feel different from another

  • The craftsmanship behind flute making

  • How to choose an instrument that feels aligned with you

  • You'll also have the opportunity to hear and experience different flutes and learn directly from someone who has devoted himself to the craft of creating them.

This gathering is about remembering that before an instrument ever arrives in our hands, it has already been part of a much longer story.

Class Four: INTEGRATION

Closing Flute Circle

February 7th, 2027 at 2pm

Our final gathering is where everything comes together. After several months of practicing, experimenting, listening, and developing your relationship with the flute, we'll return to community and share what we've learned. We'll revisit the techniques from our previous gatherings, play our shared songs together, and create space for each participant to explore their individual expression.

Our closing gathering will include:

  • Group flute practice

  • Revisiting our shared songs

  • Improvisational exercises

  • Individual flute sharing

  • Playing and listening in community

  • Reflection on your four-month journey

  • Intention-setting for continuing your practice

This Series is for you if...

You've always felt drawn to the flute but didn't know where to begin.

You are learning to trust your voice and become more comfortable being heard.

You own a flute but haven't developed a consistent relationship with it.

You simply feel something when you hear the flute that you can't quite explain.

You want to explore sound as a form of meditation, creativity, emotional expression, or personal practice.

You are looking for community and a sense of accountability

What you will walk away with..

  • A strong foundation in native flute playing — including breath, finger placement, rhythm, song structure, and expressive techniques.

  • A song you’ve learned and practiced — culminating in our final gathering, where you’ll have the opportunity to share your song and experience what it feels like to let yourself be heard.

  • A personal flute practice you can continue at home — whether you use your flute for creativity, grounding, meditation, prayer, emotional expression, or simply the joy of making music.

  • A deeper connection with your instrument — including our special visit to Leo’s workshop, where you’ll experience the craftsmanship, intention, and artistry behind the flutes themselves.

  • A supportive WhatsApp community — you’ll be part of a private group throughout the series where you can share your progress, celebrate breakthroughs, ask questions, post practice videos, and receive encouragement along the way.

  • A community of people learning alongside you — instead of trying to figure everything out alone, you’ll be surrounded by others who are also experimenting, making mistakes, practicing, and finding their own voice.
